Top Walpole Accommodations
If you are looking for accommodation in Walpole Western Australia you should know it has a permanent population of about 300 people! It is a tiny town nestled on the Walpole Inlet and surrounded by stunning forests. No matter the type of place you are looking for, there is something for everyone in and around Walpole.
Walpole Hotels And Villas
Below are our favorite Walpole accommodation recommendations for Walpole hotels and villas. There are not alot of different hotels to choose from but here are our favorites.
Bayside Villas – They offer self-contained accommodation in modern and well-appointed two-story units. These are just a couple of minutes’ walk from the very picturesque town jetty and also on the Walk Trail that connects you to all points in this cute little village!
Tree Top Walk Hotel – A 4-star property offering clean, motel style accommodation. This hotel has a pool, and this is the only place on the list that offers a pool! There is also a restaurant on-site, though we’ve eaten there and it was mediocre and rather slow service. Still, this is a very utilitarian option if wanting to visit Walpole and the Valley Of The Giants Tree Top Walk.
Wapole Hotel Motel – Offering standard 1970’s style accommodation is the Walpole Hotel (aka the Walpole Pub). These motel units will give you a place to lay your head if there are no other options!
Walpole Farm Stays & Forest Retreats
Tinglewood Cabins – Located just 10 minutes out of Walpole, the Tinglewood cabins are in a beautiful location. They are located on top of a pretty hill, with views out across gorgeous farmland. They are also located next to a lovely forest that is part of the property.
There are cabins, and even though they are near each other they are far enough to not even know there are other people around you! There is a friendly family of kangaroo and spectacular birdlife in the forest next door.
Each of the cabins is self-contained, with a fully equipped kitchen and linen and towels are included. If you are planning to visit Walpole WA during winter there is a wood fire that heats the cabins beautiful. There are also some outdoor settings that make a tranquil and relaxing a nice place to sit in the sun and watch the wildlife. Tinglewood Cabins is a great Walpole wilderness resort.
Che Sara Sara Chalets – These are one of the older Walpole WA accommodations. However, they are still favorites amongst people who return year after year. They are nestled on a forested property on the banks of the Frankland River about 15 minutes’ drive from Walpole town. The property is extremely peaceful with the chalets located a large distance apart so that it feels like you are on your own.
There are various trails on the property. You can fish in the river, go for a canoe, or have a game of tennis at the courts. The self-contained cabins are thoughtfully appointed. They are stocked with everything you will need for an easy comfortable holiday down south. Included are comfy beds, TV and DVD player, fully stocked log fire, gas hot water, extra blankets and heater, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, stove, and all your basic kitchen and cookware, washing machine, tea and coffee, and long-life milk. Linen is not supplied, but doonas are. This is a pet-friendly place to stay.
Billa Billa Farm Cottages – We included it in this list because it’s a real farm experience far from the beaten path. Which means far from phone and internet. These rustic cottages are a wonderful experience and truly help you to get away from it all. People return year after year to Billa Billa.
Walpole Wilderness Resort – Rustic wooden cottages surrounded by Karri and Tingle trees. This is a 4-star nature lover’s getaway complete with its own kangaroos! About 25 minutes from the Tree Top Walk in the North Walpole Area.
Tree Elle Retreat, Bow Bridge – Set in stunning gardens, and with big comfortable houses that are well equipped, Tree Elle is considered the premier luxury accommodation in the area. For kids, there are farm animals that are fed daily. It is also a popular wedding venue and we have been lucky enough to attend a wedding there. This accommodation near Valley of the Girnats Tree Top Walk is a great option. It is located about 20 minutes from the Tree Top Walk, traveling towards Denmark.
Nornalup Riverside Chalets – Most likely the closest accommodation to the Valley Of The Giants Tree Top Walk and located in the ‘blink and you will miss it’ hamlet of Nornalup. This accommodation doesn’t even have phone reception! It’s across the road from the magnificent Frankland river where we use to rent canoes when we were younger. The chalets most likely are a little dated but would make up for that with coziness.
Walpole Caravan Parks
There are two Walpole caravan parks which are both fully booked in the high season (late December and January). Easter in Walpole is also a very popular time of year!
Rest Point Caravan Park Walpole – On the site of Walpole’s original guesthouse, consequently it retains an old-world flavor with the guesthouse and a cute jetty. There are also spectacular views across the inlet and, a winner with our kids, a jumping pillow! In addition to being a caravan park, they also offer some modest self-contained cabins.
Coalmine Beach Holiday Park – Gets rave reviews from people who come back year after year and enjoy the laid back atmosphere and easy access to the Walpole for fishing and swimming. It is located on Coalmine Beach which is a great place for very little kids to swim. In addition, from Coalmine Beach Caravan park you can follow the Walpole Heritage trail into town, or the Bibbulmun track into the nearby Tingle Forest.
Coalmine Beach Holiday Park is one of the most popular Walpole WA carvan parks.
Did I mention it rains a lot in Walpole, which is why the big red tingle trees grow so prolifically? This means that Walpole camping is not a good idea year-round. In fact, for us, we would suggest that the best months are December through March when there isn’t too much rain.
One of the best Parks & Wildlife campsites in the area is Fernhook Falls which allows for bush camping in a beautiful setting, right near the falls. There are no showers here.
Other places for Walpole camping include the Coalmine Beach Caravan Park which is located in a lovely location on the edge of the Nornalup Inlet. The Rest Point Caravan Park Walpole also provides powered or non-powered sites in a lovely location. There is plenty of fishing or kayaking close to both Walpole Caravan Parks and a nice ambiance.
If you have a 4WD and are looking for a truly spectacular Walpole Wilderness camping experience then Rame Head has a hut and is an awesome place to get away for a few days.
