We absolutely loved our stay at the Bugis Village Hotel Singapore and we think it is one of the best family Hotels in Singapore! In short, finding good accommodation can make a good holiday “great”, and our Bugis Village Hotel Singapore review explains what makes the Village Hotel Bugis an excellent choice for a family holiday.
The Village Hotel Bugis Singapore is a massive hotel with nearly 400 rooms and about 15 floors located in the area known as Kampong Glam and adjacent to lively Arab Street.
Also known as the Landmark Village Hotel Bugis, please remember that this is an aged hotel and some facilities are a little dated. However, in exchange, you get an excellent central Singapore location and big rooms! For us, slightly old fashioned facilities are a great trade for an incredible location and atmospheric place to stay.

Village Hotel Bugis Review – Singapore
Location – Village Hotel Bugis
We love hotels that are amongst the action and the Bugis Village Hotel Singapore most definitely is. With views of the Sultan Mosque Masjid Sultan from the hotel and swimming pool, and Arab street just 1 minute away there is a lot to do in the immediate area. Also right outside your door are the popular Haji Lane and many Singapore mural and artworks for wandering around and enjoying. Along Haji Lane and the adjacent streets there are lots of cute cafes with tables on the street and this is a wonderful place to soak in the Singapore vibe We spent a lot of time exploring the Kampong Glam neighborhood and we felt our hotel was truly in the heart of the action!
The Bugis MRT station is one block away – about 5-6 minutes’ walk for little legs!

The Family Rooms – Bugis Village Hotel
If you are looking for a family room hotel in Singapore – then look no further, the Village Hotel Bugis fits this category. The rooms are really spacious, particularly for Singapore, which is known for quite small rooms. We had to have two interconnecting rooms due to the fact that we were 5 people. They had a generous king-size bed in one, and two single beds in the other, as per our request. If you are looking for a Singpore Hotel for Family of 5, this room configuration worked really well for us. They had a room capacity limit of 4 people, which is why we stayed in an interconnecting room
As mentioned, for those looking for a family room hotel in Singapore, they ALSO have Family rooms that are themed in a bright and friendly way for kids. If you are looking for accommodation in Singapore for a family of 4, then I would say you couldn’t go wrong with the Village Hotel Bugis Family themed rooms.
In this Village Hotel Bugis review, we found that the cleaning was spotless, and the rooms extremely comfortable. This was our first hotel on this particular trip, and we felt very spoiled. You can check here for pricing on all Village Hotel Bugis room types.
The Facilities – Village hotel Bugis
The Bugis Village Hotel Singapore is most definitely not the most glamorous hotel in Singapore, and the main reception area always looked a bit empty and cavernous. At other times it was full of guests from all around Asia and the hotel had many people from neighboring countries staying, including Indonesians and Indians. We loved the international feel.
There is a great swimming pool area where we spent plenty of time each day, playing with kids from Indonesia and India. It was not a huge swimming pool, but we find that our kids just like being wet! A small swimming pool has the bonus of being able to keep them within arm’s reach at all times.
There is also a gym on the seventh floor if you are looking for a workout.
Places to eat near to the Bugis Village Hotel Singapore
One of our favorite things about the Village Hotel Bugis is the number of affordable eating options nearby to the hotels.
If you are looking for affordable meals the Raffles Hotel is right next door and has a hawker center style food hall in the basement of the hospital. Our whole family ate for $15 SGD /11USD there one night! A word of caution – don’t go too late or it will be closed. On the upside, it was air-conditioned and impeccably clean.
Food Options Around Bugis Street And Bugis Junction Shopping Centre
Head in the direction of the Bugis Junction MRT station you will discover a range of western-style food. KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), McDonald’s and Burger King are about 4 minutes’ walk and easy to locate.
If you enter the air-conditioned Bugis Junction Shopping Centre there is a BHG Supermarket on the ground floor. You can buy a wide range of fresh food there, and for Australians, there are a lot of brands we are familiar with! (This was a total bonus for us traveling with a picky eater!) There are also a number of different salad bars and eating options around the BHG Supermarket.
Bugis Street, on the other side of the road from Bugis Junction shopping center, is a sprawling outdoor market and it also offers a range of more authentic food stalls.All the above eating options that we tried were less than $40 SGD for a family of 4, but fairly utilitarian though typical!
Kampong Glam Eating Options
As to expected from its name in Arab Street, Kampong Glam is known as a centre of delicous Muslim food – plus catering to the Western palate.
If you are looking for more restaurant-style upmarket dining, then we recommend heading in the direction of Arab Street. As to be expected there is a range of food options there, especially Turkish and Lebanese food. Our meal there set us back around $75 SGD, but the streets have as everything from traditional biryani, murtabak and teh tarik, to hip cafes and ice cream bars.
Food Options Inside The Village Hotel Bugis
There are two restaurants within the Village Hotel Bugis. The Landmark Restaurant offered special buffet offers and was exceptionally popular. Often in the evenings, the patrons spilled out into the pool area and it looked very popular. Halal certified the buffet was more than our eating budget!
The other restaurant within the hotel (that seemed less popular) was the Mooi Chin Place. Mooi Chin Place serves Hainanese cuisine.
Kampong Glam & Haji Lane Shopping
Arab Street offers lots of great shopping options for tourists including lamps, Turkish rugs and more. Haji Lane is where the hipsters hang out, so it depends on how hip n happening your kids are! Without a doubt, they will love the Elephant shop, so keep your eyes peeled! At certain times of year this Malay cultural area springs to life with street markets and bazaars.
Bugis Junction Shopping Centre offers a range of department style shops and options, but in our mind, the really exciting place was Bugis Street. The largest open-air market in Singapore, this place was jam-packed on the weekend (be careful of your belongings) but had hundreds of exciting stalls offering clothes, Singapore souvenirs, electronics, toys and so much more! It wasn’t air-conditioned however so go warmed (err, meant warned) that this is a sticky experience!

If you are looking for a budget family hotel Singapore then the Village Hotel in Bugis worked very well for us. Certainly, it was not the cheapest family hotel in Singapore, but it was good value for money especially considering we were in the heart of the Kampong Glam district!
