No, we haven’t stayed in all of these hotels but we did spend a lot of time researching hotels with family rooms in Singapore and want to share that information with you.

Best Singapore Hotels For Families
Firstly, let’s talk budget. Singapore is not a cheap destination, especially compared to the rest of Asia. When I first started looking around at Singapore hotels for families I was surprised at the prices. We are not used to paying over $100 USD per night. As we were a family of 5 (the baby counted towards room occupancy) we ended up paying over $200 USD per night as we had to pay for two interconnecting rooms.
From my research a family room hotel Singapore for 4 people will set you back from $90 USD to $150 USD per night. I don’t want to waste your time, if this is not your budget then read no further.
What I will say is that we did save enormously on food in Singapore! We paid less than $20 USD for our meal on three different nights at a Hawker Centre.
One of the major ways to save money is to look for hotels with family rooms in Singapore. These have different minimum occupancy rates. You might be able to have everyone in the same room and not be subject to surcharges.
What Is The Best Area To Stay With Family Friendly Hotels Singapore
If you are looking for the best Singapore hotels for families then it is important to be familiar with the popular areas for families to stay in Singapore.
Located close to the Gardens by the Bay and all of central Singapore’s attraction the Marina Bay is a wonderful, though expensive place to stay in Singapore. In addition to being close to the attractions, restaurants, and shops, as well as the MRT (public transport).
The Orchard Road area is the main shopping area in Singapore. There are also some good Singapore hotels with family rooms in this area.
We love this area as it’s full of character. You leave your hotel and immediately you are in the popular Bugis Shopping street, or alternatively amongst the murals of Kampong Glam.
More about Sentosa for families below. Singapore’s very own island playground, Sentosa is a resort destination, with many family friendly attractions like Universal Studios nearby. We have not yet stayed on Sentosa Island, preferring to focus on a more cultural insight to Singapore.
Where To Stay In Singapore With A Family On A Budget
If you are traveling on a budget, the best thing to consider is the ease of access to transport like the MRT (metro). If you are on a budget you are likely to want to maximize the time you spend in Singapore. This means not spending loads of time traveling back and forth from an Airbnb Singapore apartment in the suburbs.
We loved our stay in the Bugis and Kampong Glam area. It was also within walking distance of Little India. You can see how we structured our Singapore itinerary around our location in our post 5 Day Singapore Itinerary For Families. For this reason, a number of hotels on our best Singapore hotels for families list are located in those areas.
Village Hotel Bugis
Our number 1 pick for the best Singapore hotel for families is the Bugis village hotel Singapore. To start with, it has a spectacular location in the interesting and cultural Kampong Glam neighborhood. The Bugis MRT is a short 3-minute walk from the hotel and then it is not many stops until you are visiting all of Singapore’s main attractions. Arab Street is right outside your door and you can see the golden domes of the Sultan Mosque from the pool area. While the pool is not large, it certainly is big enough for the kids to swim in it every day. It is one of the best Singapore hotels with family rooms, though we ended up opting for two interconnecting rooms which worked well for our family.
In short, the Village Hotel Bugis is reasonably priced with large rooms and a superb location. We believe that you can’t go past the Village Hotel Bugis for good old fashioned value. We loved it so much we’ve written a Village Hotel Bugis Review, which is a must-read for anyone seriously considering hotels with family rooms in Singapore. Check here for current prices for the Village Hotel Bugis.
Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon
This is a good mid-range high rise glass and concrete hotel right in the heart of Little India. You are about 5 minutes walk from the nearest MRT. As soon as you step outside you are in the hustle and bustle of colorful Little India. There are 2 wings, with one that borders on a temple. If your room is located on that side of the Hilton Garden Inn – reviewers have reported hearing temple bells at 6 am.
Like all of the hotels in this list, this is a good midrange hotel that offers cleanliness but not luxury. Check here for current prices for the Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon.
Park Hotel/Destination Hotel On Beach Road
Also known as Destination Hotel On Beach Road, the Park Hotel is another mid-range family friendly hotel Singapore. It is located along Beach Road, and just 10 minutes’ walk from the interesting Kampong Glam area, that includes Arab Street and Haji Lane. The Sultan Mosque is about 850m away, about twice the distance as what the Village Hotel Bugis is. On the other hand, the Golden Mile Complex is right next door. It is 550 m to the nearest MRT Station, Nicoll Highway MRT Station.
Reviews indicate the rooms are small. However, this is compensated for by having a good outdoor swimming pool and a rooftop terrace with fantastic views across Singapore!
This is one of the best hotels with family rooms in Singapore. The family rooms at the Destination Hotel –Beach Road can accommodate up to 4 people with a queen-sized bed, a pull out bed, and an additional sofa bed.
Check here for current prices for the Destination Singapore Beach Road.
Park Royal On Beach Road, Singapore
More expensive than the other hotels on this list, the rooms are clean, modern and recommended for families. We included this on the list because it has a good pool area and is again well located. Close to Haji lane and MRT line.
You can choose a regular hotel room or a suite, perfect for family travelers to Singapore. Many reviewers raved about the exceptionally clean rooms and helpful concierge.

Fort Canning Lodge
The Fort Canning Lodge run by the YWCA is synonymous with budget family hotel Singapore!
Families who stay at the Fort Canning Lodge say that you can’t beat it for value for money and location. It is located directly opposite Fort Canning Park. The park has an interesting history, and provides the kiddos a chance to run off some of that energy! Location is everything with three MRT stations nearby! (That way you can pick which line you need to go on.)
The rooms are described as simple and some reviewers complain about the noise.
If you like staying in places that ‘give back’ then the YWCA Fort Canning will tick that box. The organization that runs the hotel is also is a non-profit organization. They support community projects aimed at helping the disadvantaged and underprivileged in Singapore.
As of 2019, the hotel was remodeling and the pool closed. Check with the hotel to see if the pool has reopened. For current prices for the YWCA For Canning Lodge, check here.
Holiday Inn Express Singapore
I’m told that the Holiday Inn Express Singapore, located on Clarke Quay is popular with Australian travelers. It is located very close to the Singapore River and a 7-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT Station. (Keep in mind that in Singapore’s heat 7 minutes will be quite long)
Families are able to get interconnecting rooms, which pushes the price up to higher than the others on this list. The highlight of this family friendly hotel Singapore is the rooftop 40m infinity pool. Check here for current prices to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay.
What About Sentosa Island – Best Singapore Hotels For Families
We have covered why we didn’t want to stay in Sentosa ourselves in our post What To Do In Singapore With Kids.
In short, our last trip to Singapore was about experiencing the sights in Singapore city itself, rather than the theme parks on Sentosa Island. If we were to spend a couple of days at Sentosa, we would have to weigh up the cost of staying in the much more expensive accommodation on Sentosa Island, vs commuting from Singapore city each day.
One of the cheapest Sentosa, around $400/night is the Resorts World Sentosa – Festive Hotel.
Accommodation on Sentosa is VERY expensive! Other recommended family hotels are in the vicinity of $600 – $1000 per night. That said, I always see them listed on lists of the best Singapore hotels for families.
Even with being the cheapest resort on the island, Resorts World Sentosa – Festive Hotel still gets decent reviews from family travelers. They have deluxe family rooms that come with a sofa and loft bed to accommodate up to a family of four. The rooms are spacious and many reviewers compliment the hotel staff for going out of their way to accommodate guests. Check here for currents prices to stay at Resorts World Sentosa – Festive Hotel.
If Sentosa Island isn’t exactly what you had in mind, there are so many more islands near Singapore that are worth visiting. We know there is so much to do and see in Singapore but there are also some great beach resorts near Singapore. So, if you are keen on having a little beach retreat, you have some planning to do. Luckily, we have actually done a lot of the research for you in our post the Best Islands Near Singapore For Families. Also, there are so many posts out there that give you island getaways from Singapore that require you to fly there. We haven’t done that in our post. All the islands near Singapore that we have researched and suggested in our post can be reached without having to fly.
Other Tips For Booking A Family Friendly Hotel Singapore
- Be aware that Singapore hotel prices are often subject to a 10% service charge and 7% GST (goods and service tax). Not all booking engines include these when you are pricing.
- We suggest that you look for a hotel that is close walking distance to the MRT. It makes sightseeing (and budget) in Singapore much more accessible. Also, keep in mind that the further out of the center you are the longer each day you spend on the MRT. This can be tiring if you are traveling with small children.
If you are traveling with 3 kids or more, or you like to spread out when you travel, then you will be familiar with Airbnb’s. Now, as we describe in our post Pros And Cons Of Airbnb’s For Family Travel, there are both good and bad aspects of staying in an Airbnb.
However, Airbnb’s in Singapore are actually illegal which adds a whole big ‘con’ or disadvantage of considering Airbnb’s.
My brother’s family (which has 3 kids and are budget conscious) stayed in a couple of Airbnb’s in Singapore with no problem. They were told to just say that they were staying with friends if they were approached in the lifts or lobby of the apartment block. No one ever approached them. They loved their apartments and thought that they were excellent value for money at about $200 AU / $140 USD a night.
However they were further out from the center (Geylang area) and for them (2 Adults and 3 children) the MRT fares cost more than a Grab combined, so they opted for using Grab. In terms of budget efficiency, I think you need to add the price of transport to your hotel room. They also spent quite a bit of time traveling to and from places each day.
We decided that for our Singapore stay we preferred to not risk the illegality of the Airbnbs. Plus, a good location meant that we minimized traveling times and costs (in taxis.)
