I started hiking in my late 20’s – even though the truth is that there are not too many mountains in Australia. I only really got into hiking and the mountains when I first began living in Cusco, Peru.

I love the challenge that hiking presents – not only do you need to navigate and find your way, but you also need endurance, perseverance – and a lot of resilience! Out hiking in the mountains there is nothing but you and nature. I find that it takes one or two days of hiking for me to clear my mind of everyday life, and then really begin to connect with myself and the mountains around me. Not only is hiking a wonderful way to disconnect, and reconnect with yourself, but it’s wonderful for your physical fitness and there is an amazing sense of achievement when you finish a hike!

What Is The Difference Between Hiking Captions And Trekking Captions?
So, if you haven’t spent a lot of time on trails until now then you might not have pondered the question, “what is trekking?” or what is the difference between trekking and hiking.
I won’t mess you around – there isn’t a lot of difference between hiking and trekking. Hiking involves a long walk in the natural environment on a trail. Trekking on the other hand involves a long strenuous hike in the wild natural environment and can be cross country (as in, off trails).
So in short, hiking is medium difficulty, long-distance walking, while trekking is more arduous, adventurous, and in general a tougher type of moving through the natural environment on foot. So, hiking is easier than trekking. What about walking?
Walking is easier than hiking – it might be on a sealed or well-established path, and it could even involve a pram or children. A walk has the connotation of something gentle and easy.

Mountain Instagram Captions About Reconnecting With Nature
Speaking of going where you feel most alive, did you know that – over 55% of the world’s population lives in cities? In fact, in the United States, around 82% of the population lives in cities, while in the United Kingdom it could be as high as 84%. Canada is slightly less urban than its neighbor with 2019 figures showing that 81.48 percent of the total population in Canada lived in cities.
My home country of Australia has a whopping 89% of its population living in a handful of urban areas, making Australia one of the world’s most urbanized countries; which I find ironic given its size.

Mountain Captions And Hiking Considerations For Parents!
When many of us outdoorsy folk, hikers, or adventurers become parents we are firm that kids aren’t going to change our lifestyle. There is a whole range of factors as to whether this will come true or not – when they are babies, are they good sleepers or bad?
Believe me, if you have a baby that doesn’t sleep it’s hard enough to look after them let alone have the energy for a hike. As they grow older, you learn there are things that are out of your control. My two eldest children are both neurodiverse in the most amazing – yet challenging of ways. I’ve had to change my aspirations for the moment, according to their special needs. And then – in 2019 – I lost my partner in life to an aggressive pancreatic cancer and I became a solo parent of three.
There is nothing more than I’d like than to get out and climb mountains, but sometimes you have to look at the reality of the situation. There is so much pressure in this world to be a good parent and I see a lot of stress created by parents trying to do too much, or unwilling to accept that for these 10 years or so their most important role is nurturing little people.
