Here at World of Travels with Kids, we love to travel – with our children! We are what some call a ‘travel family’ from Western Australia. Here, we have decided to share with you our favorite travelling with family quotes and insights. We strongly believe in the benefits of travel to teach your children about the world. This is known as ‘world-schooling’ so we have thrown in some education travel quotes too, and some environmental-themed travel quotes.

A little Bit About Us – Travel Family Quotes
There are families who spend their time travelling the world, going from one exotic destination to the next. Our first child was born in the remote mountains of Peru, and to be frank we envisaged ourselves travelling the world with a tribe of littlies in tow. Our daughter, even from a small age, thrived on routine, stability, and as she grew older belonging, community, and connectedness. They say that you learn from your children lessons you need to know yourself; it took us 5 years and another child to embrace that particular lesson. Our family needed a home base and a regular routine to thrive.
So while in some ways I’d like to be on eternal vacation, exploring the four corners of the globe, I recognize that does not give my children the stability and routine that works for them. Instead, we chose to have many adventures close to home and to appreciate the simple things in life. It meant we had to learn from this quote:
Look at everything as though you are seeing it for the first time, with the eyes of a child, fresh with wonder.
These days (well, prior to the Covid-19 Pandemic) our aim was to have one big holiday per year, and a couple of other little adventures closer to home.
Spend time with your kids doing their things and also your things. It will build strong reciprocal relationships.
People talk about balance in life. I tend to think that having one’s life balanced sounds like a terribly difficult thing to do. Right now our life tends toward nurturing our children to be wonderfully rounded human beings. A little bit of this, a little bit of that – and that includes travel. When I say our life is not balanced, travel is a small part of it, but an adventure mindset is big.
Quotes About Traveling With Family – Attitude Is Important
In short, who needs to go on a 10-hour long haul flight when we can go on a bushwalk close to home?
If we experienced life through the eyes of a child, everything would be magical and extraordinary. Let our curiosity, adventure and wonder of life never end.
I love to travel as much as the next person, but I also recognize that my dreams are not necessarily those of the children.
We should always share our dreams with our kids, but be careful not to project our dreams onto our kids.
I especially like this one. It reinforces (yet again) that you don’t have to travel to the Seven Wonders of the World to open your kids’ eyes. You can do that by walking around the block, attending a community event, or modeling kindness and compassion. However, if you do have the funds and the patience to go overseas – why not!
There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.
And here is a quote about traveling with family that needs no introduction:
Say Yes to New Adventures
Quotes About Traveling With Family
Family trips quote or not, this is something I like to say to my kids all the time. They beam from ear to ear. It’s a beautiful thing to ‘quip’ and it rolls off the tongue!
Any day spent with you is my favorite day!
Instagram is here to stay. When you see perfect families jetting off around the world, it is easy to judge our messy, whinging, chocolate-covered kids who scatter through the airport causing people to turn. So when that happens, remember:
There are no perfect parents and there are no perfect children, but there are plenty of perfect moments along the way.
I would like to add to this: there is no picture-perfect family holiday either. You know all those annoying traits that the kids have, like temper tantrums, sibling rivalry, and refusing to eat their veggies? Those things come on holiday with you too – but “hopefully” the good outweighs the bad.
In the spirit of ‘keepin it real’ family vacation quotes, here are two things you are going to hear if you take your kids on the road with you!
Are we there yet?
Every child in the history of the universe.
Contrary to popular belief, kids don’t love being on holiday all the time. At least mine don’t. They often get overtired and then I hear wails of …
I want to go home!
My kids on practically every single family holiday.
Travel Quotes With Family – Why Travel
When you become a parent it dawns on you at some point that you are raising future adults, human beings that will go forth into the world. You even hear yourself in their little voices and occasionally, when you hear something you don’t like, you realize that there is an element of “mini-me”.
I’ve lived my life according to this family travel quote and I believe that my kids will embrace it too:
Fill your life with experiences, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.
Or another variation of this traveling with family quotes is:
I would rather have a passport full of stamps than a house full of stuff
which you can buy on Amazon here:
When it comes to modeling the kind of behavior that we want to see in our children, think about these two quotes and how they will impact our own behavior.
Kindness in words creates confidence; kindness in thinking creates profoundness, kindness in giving increases love.
This is a particularly poignant quote that is true, not just as a travel with kids quote.
We become what we love and who we love shapes what we become.

Pamela T. Chandler
Education is so much more than just sitting in a classroom being taught. Education is also experiences learned and what better way than traveling? Of all the traveling with family quotes, this one is so great.
Educating the mind, without educating the heart, is no education at all.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.
Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.
It drives me crazy that *sometimes* you see travelers talking about going places to have adventures with their children. I strongly feel the opposite. Slowing down, taking in the details, and being on the same level as the children is the biggest adventure of all. Here are some adventure quotes for kids that we love!
And at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling.
Let’s go on an adventure!
I’ve mentioned before that for me, adventure is all in the mindset. The kids just love it when I say, “let’s go on an adventure” because they know that we will be curious, interested, and using our imaginations. And because I am human, that is not every day for sure!
Camping is an adventure for a lot of us. One way to help children better understand the magic of a camping trip is to journal about it.
Or this one, if the child needs some writing prompts, and a variety of page layouts and ideas for, scrapbooking, drawing, and more.
Another variation of “Let’s go on an adventure” is the “Let’s get lost” quote.
Quotes About Travelling With Family – Environmental Theme
I believe that changing the world starts at home. I want to raise children as global stewards, knowing that they can effect change. The next generation needs to know how to make simple, sustainable changes at home, and how to have them flow onto the broader community. I ask the kids all the time, “how are our daily actions directly connected to the health of the planet”?
We believe that it is our job as parents to show children how we depend on a healthy earth, and a healthy earth depends on us.
Here are some travel quotes with family that inspire wanderlust but also have an environmental and educational theme.
Oh, we love mother nature, and yes we completely agree with this quote.
Let Nature be your teacher.
I am such an advocate for world schooling. What better way to teach your children the importance of being good global stewards than showing them the world?
Not all classrooms have four walls.
You don’t have to travel far and wide to find value in it. Sometimes the best vacations can be found close to home. Simply getting out and exploring the world around us is so valuable. There are a lot of quotes about travel with family. This one is great because it talks about the importance of nature.
Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.
Speaking of being global stewards, eco-travel is so vitally important. Learn more in our post the Ultimate Guide To Eco Travel & Environmentally Friendly Holidays.
Take only memories, leave only footprints.
Travel Quotes With An Educational Theme
For us, the choice to travel with kids is not about gratuitous vacations or lounging in resorts. It is a philosophical choice for us to expose our kids to the world – to learn about the world.
The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.
I think that there is a risk in mainstream schooling of being taught what they should think, not how to think for themselves. I love how when we are traveling they often need to problem-solve for themselves.
Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.
Similar to you reap what you sew. A great reminder to carry with you is this.
Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later.
Yes, a million times this next quote. This is certainly something that learned early on in my life and I hope to inspire the same in my children.
I’m more interested in arousing enthusiasm with kids than in teaching the facts. The facts may change, but that enthusiasm for exploring the world will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Sometimes when things are difficult for the kids, I explain we just have to get started. So while this is one of those quotes about travel with family, it is also about life.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Travelling With Family Quotes – The Conclusion
Life is paradoxical. It is beautiful, it is ugly and harsh. Raising children is amazing, it is also very challenging. There will always be rough days or moments with the kids; moments when they tantrum, answer back, or make you want to tear your hair out. Those times will occur whether you are traveling or not.
Take a look at those inspiring travel family quotes about the benefits of travel with kids and accept that there will be problems when you travel with kids. However, the benefits far outweigh the issues.
The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything. They just make the most of everything that comes their way.
