The Patra Bali Resort & Villas was the perfect place for our first few days in Bali; for many reasons.
For starters, it’s literally a five-minute drive from the airport and so as we arrived quite late in the night (9.25pm). After a hassle-free customs and immigration, we were greeted by a driver (among hundreds of people waving signs). We were in the hotel and checked-in by 11 pm.
Those familiar with international travel will know that just 1.5 hours from arrival to being in your room is amazing, and a BIG thumbs up!

The Patra Bali Resort & Villas – Our Review
When booking this hotel we were worried that the airport noise would be too loud. However, we could hardly hear the planes and, if anything, it added to the atmosphere! We thought it was rather fun to watch the planes lining up for take-off from the beach. So this actually added to the enjoyment of the place for us rather than took away. To clarify, you could hear them at times, but it wasn’t intrusive.
The Patra Jasa Resort grounds themselves are expansive with beautiful old style villas, built in blocks of 4 rooms, nestled among as the verdant gardens filled with palm trees, fruit trees and abundant frangipani in pinks, yellows, and whites. The other major bonus of this hotel is that you are approximately 100 meters from a nice beach. Not an amazing beach, but not bad either!
We had the deluxe suite which was 70m. It had two rooms, two balconies and also a little back garden. Having three outside areas was amazing for a family with small kids so we could have ‘outside’ areas where they could play. This might be especially important for our family as they love to play outside.
We really enjoyed the size of the room, a large bath, and shower and in general, there was plenty of space for us to stretch out. The amount of space was an absolute bonus of the room. Also, it was very tranquil sitting out on the balcony hearing the birds in the trees. The air conditioning was probably a little bit on the old side and struggled with keeping the rooms cool but they were very large rooms and it was acceptable.
Breakfast was very ample and offered a whole range of international plates, especially lots of really good Asian cuisine. There seemed to be a lot of Asian guests but concluded there was a real a multicultural assortment at folks, which added to the appeal of this hotel.
The Patra Jasa Resort was in a great location. It was quick and easy to walk into Tuban, a collection of shops, sellers and restaurants. A walking path ran alongside the edge of the hotel and let straight into Tuban, and also the Lippo mall. We aren’t going to paint ourselves as culturally immersing ourselves; this mall was a perfect first place for a family to visit in Bali!
There was an excellent well-stocked supermarket where we could get fruit, water, snacks, and beer. All the basics that you need to avoid paying at expensive hotel prices every day! There was also a laundry was close by as well where we paid around 3USD per kilo which was cheaper than in the other resorts.
It was really awesome to leave the resort environment and just pop up the street for something semi-typical. We found it was a much more typical Balinese life than the resorts in Nusa Dua and a good ‘easing into’ our first visit to Bali.
All round we loved this hotel and will likely stay here again on our arrival or departure depending on flight times.
Suitability For Kids
The Pools at The Patra Bali Resort & Villas are perfect for children – not too deep, with plenty of relatively shallow paddling areas. There is one large pool near the restaurant area which wasn’t too deep and offered gorgeous waterfall sprays. It was perfect for playing with kids that aren’t particularly confident in the deep water. Obviously, you still have to watch the kids, but this pool was the best that we stayed in during our whole visit.
They offered a Kids Club, complete with three staff members – and just our kids. We were the only people there on the two days that we visited. This was awesome as we all got a fantastic chance to sit back and learn about Bali. My daughter looked through books with the staff, played Gamelan, and to her delight even helped make the daily offerings that are an omnipresent part of daily Balinese life. Certainly, it wasn’t modern or efficient like the Westin Kids club, which we visited later in the trip, but it was a perfect fit for us and our style of travel.
We were full paying guests and paid IDR 2,100,000 net room/night including all taxes, service charge, breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children and return airport transfer. About $160 US/ $210 AUD. Click here to see the latest prices to stay at Patra Jasa Resort.
